In the mood to pig out?

There’s an awesome little BBQ joint just a half-mile from The Tides hotel.

This is ‘Bama-style barbecue, with down-home Southern sides. Although there are Moe’s locations throughout the U.S., it doesn’t feel at all like a chain, but rather like a mom-and-pop establishment, the kind of place where you find the tastiest food.

The folks are super down-to-earth, and the atmosphere is casual.

Come as you are.

There’s a sandy ‘backyard’ with picnic tables, adirondack chairs, umbrellas and (sigh) twinkle lights. The stage hosts live musical acts as often as the weather permits.

Moe’s BBQ serves up all the staples you’d expect – from smoked sausage and chicken to ribs, pulled pork and turkey. There are also some coastal treats like fried catfish and shrimp ‘moe-boys’. (If you don’t get the joke, a ‘po-boy’ is a Gulf Coast sub sandwich, piled high with all the fixins.)

Order a BBQ platter, with the BEST. SIDES. EVER. Because, let’s be honest, BBQ is as much about the sides as it is about the meat. Moe’s has baked beans, potato salad, homemade slaw, mac n’ cheese, house-fried chips and special sides every day.

You’ll want to save room for some banana puddin’ or Oreo chocolate puddin’.
